Montrose, COLO.— Help Montrose County, City Market, Montrose Memorial Hospital, and the City of Montrose Stop the Flu Bug this Tuesday, October 23rd at the fifth annual free Drive-Through Vaccination Clinic from 3-7pm. This year's drive-through clinic locations include the Montrose County Event Center (1036 North 7th Street, Montrose) and the Basin Clinic (421 Adams Street, Naturita). An additional walk-up clinic will be held at the River Valley Family Health Center (308 Main Street, Olathe). This year's flu season is predicted to once again start earlier than normal and last well through March.
"This event could not be possible without the generous support of City Market," said Montrose County Emergency Preparedness Coordinator Teri Watkins. "City Market supplies 1,000 flu vaccinations, as well as immunizing-pharmacists to help at this event. I am proud to help bring this event to our community--it is a fun event and provides an easy way for community members to receive a free flu vaccination while testing our emergency preparedness capabilities."
Montrose County, Montrose Memorial Hospital, and the City of Montrose each contributed $3,000 to help supply additional vaccinations and other necessary supplies. Volunteers and staff from all three organizations will be present at the event. "This is a great partnership," said Commissioner Sue Hansen. "Each entity is working hard to help our community prepare for this year's flu season. I will be on-site at the Montrose County Event Center and I look forward to helping volunteer this year."
At the Montrose County Event Center, participants have the option to stay in their vehicles and will be processed through several lanes. All participants must sign a vaccination consent form. These are available in advance at City Market locations in Montrose, Montrose County Offices, and Montrose Memorial Hospital, but may also be filled out during the event. The event is designed with the participant in mind--cars with more than four people in the vehicle or those requiring additional time will be given shots in an adjacent location near the drive-through lane. There is also the option for walk-up service as well. Vehicles attending the Montrose County Event Center location must enter through the right-hand turn lane off the San Juan Bypass. A map is attached for reference. Participating agencies include Montrose County, City Market, the City of Montrose, Montrose Memorial Hospital, Care Flight, Montrose Fire Protection District, River Valley Family Health Center, Basin Clinic, Montrose County Sheriff's Office, Montrose Police Department, and the Montrose County Sheriff's Posse.
Vaccinations are available for individuals six months and older and will be available while supplies last. For more information please visit www.montrosefluclinic.com.
