Heart attacks and strokes were once viewed as diseases that primarily impacted the lives of men. But we know that women suffer, too—often in higher numbers. Women also have unique risk factors for these cardiovascular diseases (CVD) and often present distinct signs and symptoms during heart attacks That’s why the Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention (DHDSP) is shining a light on CVD and women this May by promoting messages and resources to help women “Know. Talk. Act.” to prevent disease and stay healthy at every age.
