Planning Development
Planning & Development's mission is to serve the citizens of the County in an equitable and fair manner in upholding all laws, rules and regulations adopted by the County.

Planning & Development serves as a point of contact for surveyors, engineers, developers, architects, builders and the general public requiring information concerning development in Montrose County.

The Division has 8 employees with three departments: Building, Planning and Engineering.

The Building Department provides plan review, inspections and enforcement of the currently adopted building codes and is responsible for review and approval of individual sewage disposal systems (septic systems).

The Planning Department plans and provides for growth in accordance with County Subdivision Regulations, Zoning Resolution and Master Plan. The department provides support, processes and presents applications to the Planning Commission and Board of County Commissioners.
