Responsibilities
The BOCC provides leadership and vision in guiding Montrose County government. It is the policy-making body of county government, and as such it is charged with overseeing the organization and budgets of a wide variety of County programs to benefit citizens.

In addition to its broad fiscal responsibilities, the BOCC:

  • Makes appointments to various community boards and commissions
  • Acts as the Board of Equalization, Board of Social Services, Liquor License Authority, and Board of Health
  • Approves intergovernmental agreements, resolutions, ordinances, voting precinct boundaries, and voting places
  • Sees that the laws regarding county government are followed
  • Appoints the County Attorney, who serves as legal counsel and advisor to the County
  • Appoints the County Manager, who assists the BOCC in carrying out its duties
